We age by our emotional reactions to events

We age not by passage of time but by our emotional reactions to events.
One's body is equipped to maintain health, heal, cure itself of infection and disease, and remain youthful.
Drugs, surgery, and various therapies either stimulate the body's own defense mechanism when  it is deficient and it needs help or to tone it down when it is excessive.
This elán, vital life force, or adaptation energy, manifests itself in several ways. One way is to adopt one easily recognizable characteristic that all the rapid healers have  in common, a positive sense of purpose. These folks are optimistic, cheerful, positive thinkers who have someone or something  to live for or to stay well for.
When we instead unconsciously expect to get old at a certain age, we set up a negative goal image to accomplish or we may unwittingly do the very things necessary to bring it all about. We all  have seven basic needs: love, security, creative expression, recognition, new experiences, self-esteem, expectation and engagement (or the need for more life).
If you will place yourself in the sort of goal-situation where more life is needed you will receive more life. You establish this need by looking forward to the future with joy and anticipation, expecting to enjoy tomorrow.
